Guangwu Mountain: Micang Part II, Oct 2025

Micang 米倉 Part I covered Xianglu Mountain 香爐山 and Heixiong Gully 黑熊沟, now Part II will cover Natural Gallery 天然画廊, Botanical Gardens 植物園, and Daxiaolangou 大小兰沟.  We arrived the Micang Scenic Area 米倉 at opening and after the 40-minute shuttle bus ride, we arrived at the Natural Gallery 天然画廊, the first stop of the shuttle bus.  The Natural Gallery is an area featuring a tall and lush forest of Chinese beech trees.  The plank road here is narrow and crowded.  It takes about an hour or so to visit this area.  From here, we board another shuttle bus to reach the main transfer center.

Upon returning to the transfer center in the core of the Micang Mountain scenic area, we made our way to the Botanical Gardens 植物園 on foot.  Strangely, the place has been deserted with no tourists in sight.  There are some maple trees here and is a good place for people who like to do portrait shots.

We had a quick lunch at one of the many stalls along the road at the transfer center before taking another shuttle bus to Daxiaolanggou 大小兰沟 or Big and Small Orchid Gully.  Before boarding the bus to Daxiaolanggou, there is a helipad where you can take a 6-minute helicopter ride around the area.  Daxiaolangou 大小兰沟, nestled at the southern foot of Micang Mountain, is especially known for its refined and exquisite scenery.  The walkway along the water is much wider here as compared to Heixiong Gully and it is one of the latest places for the leaves to turn crimson.  After about 1.5 to 2km in, we were able to rent a buggy to take us the rest of the 3+km.  I highly recommend renting an electic scooter or buggy for the almost 7km roundtrip.

There are a limited number of buggys for rent and we had no choice but to drive this damaged one.  At least it got us there and back in one piece!
